The editorial program is a strategic tool designed by each ministry for the programming and dissemination of its editorial production, in alignment with the General Plan of Official Publications of the General Administration of the State.
The approval of the editorial programs complies with the provisions of the Article 2 of Royal Decree 118/2001, of 9 February, on the regulation of official publicationsand signed by the minister concerned, after a favourable report from the Official Publications Coordinating Board. The Board approves the respective ministerial editorial programmes in plenary session at the beginning of the year of the corresponding year. The programs are valid annually, and are reviewed in the second half of each year.
The editorial programs will contain, in any case, the following information:
- Unitary, periodical, audiovisual, cartographic and electronic publications, as well as other types of publications (brochures, posters, etc. ), classified according to their purpose and the criteria determined by the Editorial Ministry.
- Data on periodicity, circulation and editorial costs, with an indication of the budgetary concept to which the expenditure applies.
- The free or non-free nature of the publication, as well as the forecasts of income from the sale of publications.
- The planned editorial calendar.
Within the scope of the Ministry, Royal Decree 502/2024, of 21 May, which develops the basic organizational structure of the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy, and amends Royal Decree 1052/2015, of 20 November, which establishes the structure of the Departments of Employment and Social Security abroad and regulates their organization, functions and provision of jobs (Article 10.1.o and 2.c) assigns this function to the Technical General Secretariat, through the Sub-Directorate General for Reports, Resources and Publications.
