Submission guidelines

Rules and procedure for the presentation of collaborations to the Journal of the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy

The Ministry’s Journal is quarterly in nature and aims to publicize original and unpublished works, studies and research in the subjects of its functions. In addition, it publishes extraordinary numbers when a topical issue arises that is considered important and urgent to disseminate.

Thematic

The Journal is subdivided into three series: Labor, Social Economy and International and Community Social Law. Each of these series is composed of original and unpublished articles selected for publication and related to the subjects of each of the series, after assessment by external experts to the publishing entity of the magazine, which will be the basis of the decision making on its publication. This publication is ultimately the responsibility of the Advisory Board of the journal and its Management.

The articles published in each series have a homogeneous structure and can be classified into: Editorial, Legislation, Jurisprudence, Reports and Studies, Documents, Reviews and Bibliography.

Copyright

The responsibility for the opinions issued rests exclusively with their authors.

The authors assign to the Department the right of exploitation of the published works, which entails the rights of edition, reproduction, distribution, translation and public communication of their works, by any means or support.

  • Text. The maximum length is 30 pages in DINA4 size (including footnotes), in Word format, using a 12-point font size. This length must include any graphs, tables, charts, and other graphical elements included in the text. It is mandatory to submit, for graphs, tables, and charts, the corresponding Excel file or, alternatively, the original link.
  • Bibliography. The corresponding bibliographic references must be provided and placed exclusively at the end of the text.
  • The following citation format must be used:

In addition, a list of between 3 and 10 keywords used by Scopus to index the work must be provided in both languages.
  • Bold text should be avoided.
  • Graphs, figures, tables, and charts must be placed at the end of the article. They must be numbered so that they can be referenced from the appropriate place in the text as follows: “See graph/figure/table/chart X in the final annex.”

Evaluation

The articles will be evaluated by two experts external to the Department (peer review process), who will not know the authorship of the article. The article sent by the publications Department to the coordinator will not consist of authors. The coordinator will send his decision on the appropriateness of publishing the article based on the two reports received and his reasoned opinion to the Department. The person in charge of this department will communicate the result to the author of the article sent.

The evaluation provided by the coordinator for the author must be clearly based on a minimum text of 50 words and may have four results:

  • Accept the article as presented.
  • Accept the article with suggestions.
  • Accept the general lines of the article, but with a broad review.
  • Do not accept the article.

The evaluation process will be directed by the coordinator of the series to which the number to publish corresponds, and the final decision to publish the article will be taken by the direction of the Journal.

Review of the content to be published

The Publications Department will proceed to estimate whether the submitted works meet the required publication standards. It is up to the authors first and the coordinator subsequently to review the final articles to be sent to the Department. Confirmation will be requested from the coordinator of the final version. The Department is responsible for the typographical review during the first and subsequent tests. The total set of the number will not exceed 350 pages.

Ethical standards of publication. The Journal of the Department declares its commitment to the respect and integrity of the published works and has as its reference the Code of Conduct and Good Practices for Editors of Scientific Journals that defines the Ethics Committee of Publications (COPE: Committee on Publication Ethics). Plagiarism is strictly prohibited and texts in which plagiarism is detected will be rejected. The authors must ensure that the submitted works are completely original. When authors use the work and/or words of others, they must be duly cited.

Form of shipment. The article or collaboration will be sent by email to the following address: proproeditorial@mites.gob.es
